Southern California Youth Retreat

From SOC Western Archdiocese on behalf of H.E. C. Eugene Kaplan, Archbishop of the Western USA

Fr. John Saif

The retreat of our young generation is an important effort that must be done through our Archdiocese churches. Our youth of St. Ephraim Cathedral and St. Paul of San Diego all joined together during a weekend in September 23-25, for a spiritual retreat, fun and fellowship at Forest Home Ministries, located at Campsite: Forest Center, 40,000 Valley of the Falls Dr. Forest Falls, CA 92339, near Big Bear city.

The theme of the retreat was Camp Unity. The retreat weekend was a time for all youth to unite as one and share the love that they have for Christ and each other. Each day began with morning prayers and ended with evening prayers. The youth was blessed with numerous sermons and spiritual activities through out the weekend that focused on standing firm and strong in our walk with God, forgiveness, and confession. The weekend was also full of fun activities such as smores around a fire, basketball, volleyball, wall climb, 360 ft. zip-line, and a lake. To encourage such activities in our Archdiocese, on Saturday September 24th, His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan paid a visit to the young people accompanied with Rev. Fr. Louis Yacoub of St. Ephraim Cathedral, and have met the president of the youth organization Mr. Abe Gelin and spiritual responsible persons Rev. Fr. John A. Saif, very Rev. Fr. Andrew Bahhi, and very Rev. Fr. Stephanos Issa who came all the way from Toronto, Canada to participate in these lively activities, and share some of his own activities.

We look forward to multiplying and repeating this retreat with the participation of even more of our youth.
