Verse 2: “And they brought to him a paralytic.”

Verse 2: “And they brought to him a paralytic.”

From Mark 2:4 : “Four people brought the paralytic to the house. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and then they lowered the sick man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus.

We can see two things here:

1. Faith of the four people who brought the sick man: they had complete faith that if they somehow brought the patient to the Lord, he is sure to be cured.
2. The attitude of the owner of the home: St. Peter had no problem that the home was damaged. But he was happy that his home was blessed to be the place for Lord to minister.

“Jesus saw their faith” (Mark 2:5): Because of a person’s faith and prayer, others will be useful and fruitful. Here the faith was for the friends, but benefit was for the paralytic. Other examples are:

1. Centurions faith cured his servant (Mat 8:5)
2. Nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum prayed for his son (John 4:43)
3. Jairus prayed for his daughter of twelve years old (Matthew 9:18)
4. Canaanite woman’s faith cured her daughter (Mat 15:23-28)
5. Because of Syro-Phoenician woman’s faith, her daughter was saved (Mark 7:24)
6. Because of the faith of the people who brought to him the deaf man, he was cured (Mark 7:31)
7. Because of the faith of Mary and Martha, Lazarus was brought back to life (John 11:1-32)
8. Because of the faith of the people who brought him, the blind man was cured.
9. St. Peter prayed for Tabitha [Dorcas] ( Acts 9:36-41)
10. Paul prayed and raises Eutychus to life (Acts 19:11-12)
11. Healing of the cripple at Lystra by Paul (Acts 14:8-10)
12. Eneas' palsy healed by Peter (Acts 9:33-34)
13. Paul heals Publius' father and others at Malta (Acts 28:8-9)
14. Apostle St. James asks us to pray for others (James 5:13, 16)
15. Our Lord says “pray for the enemies” (Matthew 5:45)

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick (James 5:15).

If God want to act on a person , it is necessary that one should know about it. The dead Lazarus or dead daughter of Jairus never knew that Lord acted on them. Saul who was persecuting Christians never knew that in Damascus, Lord would call him.
