Verse: 7-12. “Ask... seek... knock…”

God is the source and giver of all goodness. But man or woman has to do his/her duties, too. We need to pray, make an effort, and strive hard. When we look at the promise of our Lord, this becomes more and more evident. We have seen how to pray and prayers will be answered. 


Verse 7:12 "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets”. 

This verse is the summation of the Sermon on the Mount. It is a golden rule (guiding light) of our social life. The Hillel Rabbi said, “Whatever you feel is disallowed, do not do that to others; do to no one what you yourself dislike”. These teachings have a negative tone in it. But Our Lord’s teaching, “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them” is more touching the hearts than those before. These verses teach us how to pray, how prayer is answered, and why the prayers are answered; answers to all of this we have dealt before.
