Righteousness & Kingdom of God
St. John Crysostom:
“Heavenly kingdom is the reward for righteous.”
The one who accepts this path,
God will provide not only what is needed, but in plentiful.
Matthew 6:25-24 shows our Lord’s view of worry:
1.
God who gave life to us, will provide us in our life.
2.
Even birds that do not save anything live well-fed.
3.
The worries about future do not carry out anything for us; no one has the
ability to extent one’s life by even single day.
4.
One who even decorates tomorrow’s flowers will provide for His greatest
creation.
5.
Worrying is a sign of lack of faith in God.
It is also a way for people who do not know God.
6.
There are two ways to avoid worry: first, think about the Kingdom of God
and second, do accordingly. When
one gives primary place to Christ in one’s life, worries will disappear.
V34 – “So
do not worry about tomorrow; for
tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”.
This
does not mean not to plan for the future. But what is meant is not worrying
about anything especially about the future because it is not only futile, but
also dangerous. It is common
knowledge that worrying too much is harmful to one’s body.
Troubled Psalmist comforts by remembering
God and His ways (Psalms 42:6). Everyone has many problems now. Entrust
our uncertain future to God.
Some translations are: “Each
day has enough evil”, but a better translation is “trouble of its own”
St. John Chrisostom:
“The usage ‘trouble’ here refers to that which is not against evil,
but pain, suffering, effort, etc. Everyday
has its own problems, then why think about those in the future?
Your effort is required for the absolutely needed things, and not beyond
that.”
We can think about tomorrow, but
do not worry about it.
