Easter - The Very Day of Victory
by H.G. Dionasios Geevarghese
The Syriac word "KYOMTHO" means "standing" or "resurrection". This word (Kyomtho) derived from "KOM" and it has two meanings; "stood" and "raised from"
The Word "Easter" said to be derived from the German spring festival of their goddess "Austro" which was celebrated in the month of April. And so Easter also means the festival of new flower buds. When Jesus Christ resurrected, the festival of new flower buds became the Festival of New Life.
The vast majority of the global population worship an invisible God's Power. Muslims calls it Allah, Christians calls it "Aaloho", Hindus call it as Adiparasakthi and Jews call it Eel.
Christians understand Jesus Christ as the "Son of God" who came down to rescue the mankind who were under the satanic influence of sin and death. A person who have a diligent look at Jesus Christ can see different postures as per the light of Gospels and through the teachings of His disciples.
1. His posture as Son of God: when we hear a voice from heaven, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" during His baptism
2. His posture as a Prophet: when he prophecies about his death and resurrection: read the Gospel of St: John; Chapter 2, verses
19: Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
3. His posture as a King; when we read the Gospel of St: Luke 19: 37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
4. His posture of humbleness and as a servant; when we see him training his disciples asking them who is bigger – those who sit for dinner or those who serve? and when he washed their feet like a servant.
Christians prostate and worship a God who came into this world as God and Man at same time; accepted with full will all the pains condemnations and persecutions on the cross and death, entombed and resurrected on the 3rd day. And worship the Most powerful God who at the same time who Himself is the reason for all beings which is seen and unseen, creator, curator and judge of every living and non-living things, His Holy Spirit who emerged from HIM and taken from HIS only begotten Son Jesus Christ.
St: Paul the apostle declares ( 1 Cor 15:14) "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain". We can see the priest who proclaim the Wonderful Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave on the great festival day of Easter. When he shout that Messiah has resurrected, HE defeated and drove off his enemies to the behind; the whole congregation repeat after him and say Amen.
The existence of Christian Church is solely based on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ; who came down to redeem her. If Jesus was not resurrected, Christianity would not have been seen today. Christians take pride in a God who is Living today; not a dead one.
Let this festival of Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ; who won on the clutches of sin, death, all satanic forces, pride, all vicious thoughts and selfishness be a prominent light house for the whole world.
May I take this opportunity to convey my heartiest greetings of the Holy Easter to you all. Our Lord’s eternal Peace be with you for ever and ever.
God bless you all
Signed
